Just Can't Keep Up
Traditional Balletwear suck.
Take a peek into your dancewear wardrobe. If it’s anything like ours used to be, it’s a frustrating sight. Those leotards and tights, once symbols of your ballet dreams, now leave you feeling stifled, restricted, drenched in sweat, and frankly, a bit whiffy during training. Prolonged wear can lead to rashes and uncomfortable red marks. To be honest, sometimes it felt like ballet clothing and accessories were more akin to modern torture devices.
Cotton's Compromise?
Initially, it feels breathable and soft. But after every wash, it stiffens and loses its stretch. Once sweat-soaked, it clings to you, chilling your muscles when they need warmth most. Many brands cut costs by blending cotton with polyester – great for their pockets, but a disaster for your skin and your dancing.
Spandex's Shortfall?
They offer incredible stretch and a snug fit. But pure synthetics lack true breathability and temperature regulation. Sweat gets trapped against your skin, leaving you feeling clammy and uncomfortable after an intense variation, with all elegance gone. They also do little to prevent odours.
Nylon's Nuisance?
Durable and smooth, yes. Plastic is not environmentally friendly and breathability is its Achilles' heel. After hours of barre and centre work, you'll feel like you're wrapped in cling film, stifled and overheating. This isn't just about comfort; it affects your muscle condition and performance. The slick, plastic‑like hand feel of many leotards isn’t by chance, most off‑the‑rack styles are crafted from polyester fibres, even if their fibre content isn’t always obvious.
Bamboo's Breaking Point?
Silky soft, certainly. But for the rigours of high-intensity ballet training, it's simply too delicate. It can't provide the necessary support or warmth and quickly loses its shape, stretching out – your tights might be around your ankles before you've even finished Act I ofSwan Lake.
Essentially, the traditional dancewear industry has taken too many shortcuts, rarely truly considering the dancer's skin and physical sensations.
However, We chose to take the longer, more rewarding path.

Fabric tech innovation
How We Created It?
We understood the technical hurdles we faced, blending plant and animal fibres was as challenging as executing 32 fouettés en pointe.
But we were determined to create the ultimate fabric, solely to achieve the most exquisite sensation against the body. We began collaborating with textile experts with over 40 years of experience.
That's when we met Giovanni Vitale, the 3rd generation scion of the historic Italian Vitale textile family, a true fabric technology expert who understood and believed in our mission.

12 additional treatment processes
That was just before the spinning even began. With Giovanni's assistance, we designed, experimented, failed, wear-tested in real dance studios and on stage, redesigned, and repeated. We questioned ourselves countless times, but we never stopped until we created the most comfortable dancewear a dancer's body has ever known.
And so, Fla Balletique™ was born. It’s technology engineered for dance, bringing with the second skin.
