How to measure at home

Place a sheet of plain paper flat on the floor, one edge against a wall.

Stand barefoot on the paper with your heel touching the wall.

Use a pen to mark the tip of your longest toe.

Structured Heel Counter

A structured heel counter helps the shoe stay securely aligned around the back of the foot. It adds quiet stability through turns, relevés and landings, reducing unwanted movement inside the shoe without making the heel feel rigid.

FLA Bio Contoured Arch Support Strip

Standard soft shoes often leave a gap beneath the arch, compromising both support and aesthetics. Our specialized elastic support strip mimics the natural curvature of the foot, applying a gentle, upward hug. 5mm Ridge Free Integrated Forefoot Pad

The traditional pleats on standard ballet slippers are the main culprits behind metatarsal pain and friction while turning. FLA replaces them with an expanded, 5mm seamless leather outsole. By completely flattening the surface under the ball of the foot, it removes painful pressure points for a smoother, more stable, and comfortable pivot.

I’ve just started learning ballet and was trying to figure out how to pick the right gear. So, I took a close look at Fla Ballet’s descriptions of different styles, and these soft ballet shoes turned out to be a great choice for someone like me. They’re comfortable, and I can wear them for about two hours without any pain, which was something I was worried about. I’m still working on my foot positioning, so I like how these shoes are forgiving while I adjust to new movements. They feel comfortable without being restrictive, and I really appreciate that. The only downside for me is that they can be a little slippery when I spin on the wooden floor, so next time I’ll try the full-sole support style from Fla, which might be better for beginners. Hey, I’m a dancer, lol, and these shoes from Fla have been amazing. Ballet doesn’t feel like it’s just for white people anymore because they actually fit the shape of our feet. You know, sometimes, every race—or just every individual—has different foot shapes, so it’s tough to find shoes that don’t rub. But these are exactly what I was looking for. They’re super comfortable for my weekly ballet class, and they don’t make my feet sweat or hurt like some other shoes I’ve tried. Out of all the ballet shoes I’ve worn, these are my favorite. I especially love the stretch, especially the elastic fabric used in the Bravo series. That being said, I do wish they were a bit more breathable—after two hours of practice, my feet did get a little hot. But no blisters, and they fit well without feeling too tight.

Before I bought Fla ballet shoes, I had already read a lot of reviews. As a new brand, I was curious to see how they’d hold up, and I’m happy to say they really impressed me. I’ve tried so many ballet shoes over the years, and for me, comfort, flexibility, and durability are key (and that’s what I teach my students to look for too). These shoes check all the boxes. The elastic is soft, and they break in quickly, which is a bonus for both me and my students. I noticed they don’t slip around on my feet, which is a problem I’ve had with cheaper shoes. However, for long hours of teaching or demonstrating, they’re not as soft as I would like. I’ve had issues with shoes from bigger UK brands where they fit well but the heel tends to slip during quick movements—this hasn’t been a problem with Fla’s Bravo and Cloud series, though. If you can, I’d recommend trying them on in person to make sure they fit your foot type.
